Vieux Chateau Certan 2019 has been released at €168 per bottle ex-négociant, down 20% on the 2018 release (€210). The wine is being offered by the international trade at £2124 per 12×75, a 19.2% decrease from the 2018 opening price of £2628 per case.
Neal Martin of Vinous awarded the wine 96-98 points, noting, “Alexandre and Guillaume Thienpont fashioned a brilliant follow-up to the glorious 2018”. Antonio Galloni awarded 95-97 and added, “the 2019 Vieux Chateau Certan is a heady, rich wine that captures all of the exoticism of the year”.
Prices of Vieux Chateau Certan have a 78% correlation with ‘Benchmark Critic’ scores.
Today’s release comes to the market at fair value, trailing in price the similarly scored 2015 by 13%.
