Lascombes 2019 received a range of 90-92 points from Neal Martin, according to whom, “there is quite a bit of new oak here that will need to be assimilated and it slightly pokes out towards the creamy finish, but it is balanced and focused with a persistent aftertaste”. Antonio Galloni gave the wine a slightly higher score (92-94) and expressed that “Lascombes is decidedly extroverted in feel, and yet all the elements meld together effortlessly. Lascombes is a big, extravagant wine, but the 2019 appears to be a bit more restrained than in the recent past.”
The Wine Advocate’s Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (93-95+) said that “the palate possesses beautiful poise and freshness, with a firm line of ripe, finely grained tannins supporting the intense, crunchy black fruits, finishing on a lingering mineral note”.
According to James Suckling (94-95), the wine “grows at the end. Shows finesse and refinement.”
Lascomes’ Second Wine, Chevalier de Lascombes 2019, was also released today at €19.2 per bottle ex-negociant and is being offered by the trade at £243 per case.
